Match 6 - Met Police Away
So then a 'short' trip to Met Police for Game 6.
First on Paul took revenge for opening day defeat at the hands of Alan by winning 3-0. But Colin's Essex League demons continue to haunt him and despite playing well in 'non essex league' games still cannot find a win and lost 3-0. These matches were watched by a 'spartan' crowd, ie. no-one, as the rest of our team had been delayed. Chris, cos of the tubes only running once every half hour and Dave and Adrian thanks to a combination of Adrian's road traffic knowledge (again!) and Dave assuming you could turn off the M11 going that way. Doh!
Dave then made a meal of dispatching stand-in No.5 Laura citing (or not as the case may be) lack of vision as his problem - more signs of old age shining through. Whilst Adrian and Lloyd endured some very long rallies before the home player got the better of our resident 5 set man, somewhat surprisingly in only 4 games.
This left a lot riding on the final rubber. Not just the outcome of the match, but the front seat home in a car with rear seats really only designed for show, and also the prospect of driving to all future away games after and I quote "if you lose to a girl, you should drive to all away games". Unfortunately the pre-match hype was more entertaining than the actual game as Chris showed signs of a long week at work (yes too many "meetings" in the pub) and eventually lost 3-1 to Steph.
And so Clements suffer another defeat. We need to find some form in our remaining matches if we are to stay in this division.
Results:
Chris lost to Steph 1-3
Paul beat Alan 3-0
Adrian lost to Lloyd 1-3
Colin lost to Barry 0-3
Dave beat Laura 3-2
Clements lost to Met Police 2-3 (8-16)
